HND Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management

Requirements for the programme:

A.         SSSCE Holders

1.       Five (5) passes (A-C) in three (3) core subjects, including English Language, Integrated Science/Core Science and Mathematics and at least two (2) elective subjects relevant to the area of specialization

a.       Or

2.       Six Passes (A-D) in all subjects, including English Language, Integrated Science/Core Science and Mathematics and at least three (3) of the elective subjects must be relevant to the area of specialization.

B.         WASSCE Holders

1.       Five (5) passes (A1-C6) in three (3) core subjects, including English Language, Integrated Science/Core Science and Mathematics and at least two (2) elective subjects relevant to the area of specialization

2.       Six Passes (A1-D7) in all subjects, including English Language, Integrated Science/Core Science and Mathematics and at least three (3) of the elective subjects must be relevant to the area of specialization.

C.         Technical / Vocational Institutions

1.       Holders of Cookery Part II (812/2) Certificate

Cookery Part II (812/2) Certificate plus one-year work experience in hospitality facility.

2.       Holders of Cookery Part I (812/1) Certificate

Passes in all components of cookery part I (812/1) plus passes in five (5) subjects at SSCE/WASSCE in 3 core subjects and two elective subjects.

D.         Holders of Post-Secondary Teachers’ Certificate

Post-Secondary Teachers’ Certificate (Home Economics Option).

E.         Mature Applicants

1.       Must be at least 25 years old

2.       Must have at least five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level passes including English Language, Mathematics and Science.

3.       Must pass a written examination and/or an interview.

 

F. International Applicants

1.       All foreign qualifications shall be referred to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission to the institution.

2.       Applicants with WAEC qualifications can apply directly to the University.

3.       Evidence of proficiency in English Language will be required in the case of applicants from non -English speaking countries.  International applicants are also requested to acquire Non-Citizens Ecowascard as a pre-requisite for regularization of admission. International applicants who fail to provide evidence of having acquired this card will not have their admissions regularized.
